iCollege Careers Programme

iCollege is committed to providing students with high quality careers information, advice and guidance to inspire and support them to be happy and successful in their chosen careers.

Careers education is an integral part of Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship and Economic Education (PSHCE) and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) delivered through teacher-led group sessions, guest presenters, employability workshops, work experience, careers events, employer visits and individual appointments. The DfE Careers Guidance (January ’23) stipulates that secondary age pupils must receive independent careers advice from properly qualified careers professionals. iCollege facilitate a broad range of encounters with external careers guidance professionals to ensure young people have up to date, unbiased and accurate information.

Please see KS3 KS4 & KS5 Careers Commitment documents for range of encounters and events.

Young people at iCollege are able to access high quality careers guidance; Careers Leader, Ali Haynes is a careers adviser (Level 7 qualified). iCollege commission Adviza who are independent providers of careers information, advice and guidance; our dedicated contact is Amanda Gill (Level 6 qualified). For information about Adviza, to request a service or learn more about their bursary offer for careers support: https://www.adviza.org.uk/Pages/Category/services?Take=10

Both Ali Haynes and Adviza are members of the Careers Development Institute and are bound by the CDI Code of Ethics when working with young people.

The iCollege careers initiative underpins learning and teaching throughout the Service and is embedded in all curriculum subjects.  Linking learning relevance to future careers will be developed at every opportunity by subject teachers.

iCollege teachers and staff meet regularly to share best practice in careers development and to raise awareness of individual student feedback and support needs.
