Paint Tilehurst Red
Here at Integration, we wanted to take part in a local community project called "Paint Tilehurst Red" - a commemorative event for the 100 year anniversary since the end of World War One. The whole of the local area have been working hard to commemorate a century after the end of the first world war by covering the local area either in poppies, murals, or light displays such as the water tower nearby. We decided to do a plastic poppy display for the front of our building, so we have been collating plastic bottle donations from the houses of those at Integration plus staff across the service. During our PSE lessons this week, we cut off the bottom of the bottles, painted them the traditional remembrance red, white for the peace poppy, and purple in memory of the service animals involved in conflict. Thanks to the kind donations from all across the iCollege service, we were able to complete our project on Friday which can now be seen from our front gate. Thank you to everyone who got involved with the project, either through donations or assembling the poppies!
Good luck to our leaving students
We have had a very busy term, finishing our GCSE, Functional skill and Btech qualifications from after Easter to 11th June.
We hope that you have a good rest now to prepare yourselves for your chosen college and career paths.
We have enjoyed working with you and wish you all every success. Please keep in touch and let us know "What a PRU kid can do!"
We would be really happy to see photos of you at work or college to let our new students know about options for their futures.
Year 11 2018-2019 students last day is 28th June 2019.
Thorpe Park reward trip 12th June 2019
Some students attended our rewards trip as they had completed all their exams and earned enough reward points.
We travelled by coach and car. The students had a packed lunch but were able to take some money to buy other food and drinks there.
We had a central support point that was staffed constantly and other staff went on rides with the students.
Everyone said what a great time they had had. Definitely a fantastic way to celebrate and get over the exams.
Sports day and BBQ
Friday 14th June was the day of our Independence Sports day and BBQ.
Great fun was had in different teams competing in egg and spoon, throw the duck, three legged race and may more historical challenges. Following the BBQ we held a presentation of funny and serious certificates from the most likely student to become an author, most improved maths, or science to the tastiest pizza maker 2019. The staff at Independence are very proud of our students and really took the time to celebrate our time together.
