Intervention Year 9 & 10
Intervention icollege is located 88 Newtown Road, Newbury RG14 7BT and provides long term education placements for Year 9 and 10 learners in West Berkshire who are struggling to access a mainstream provision. The learners follow the National Curriculum and study 3 core subjects - English, Mathematics and Science. In addition they study Information and Communication Technology, PSHE, Art, Practical skills, PE, RE and they have access to Drama and Music sessions. Learners work in small groups and we can also work with learners who require a more 1:1 support.
Intervention icollege has 6 classrooms, a dining room, a workshop and an outdoor play area, we cater for 16 young people at a time and all staff members are highly experienced and are fully committed to our objective of supporting all young people to enjoy learning. We also focus upon a learner’s well-being and the skills of learning and have a pastoral manager, an emotional literacy support assistant and offer all of our young people the opportunity to work with the Emotional Health Academy. Our aim is to help young people be better equipped to move on and to ultimately succeed in a school setting appropriate to their needs. Learners are also given the opportunity to attend vocational placements to help with transition into the adult world.
