Learners in The Pod have access to the full National Curriculum, differentiated and personalised to meet their individual needs. Though the National Curriculum will be the cornerstone of the curriculum three big ideas underpin the learning. These ideas are fundamental to the development of learners with SEMH ensuring that they are able to develop into secure and rounded individuals with a greater understanding and respect for the world around them and their influence upon it.
The three big ideas are as follow; 1. Is life on Earth precious? 2. Do all actions have consequences? 3. How should difference and diversity be valued?
Through the knowledge and skills acquired in their learning, the young people should begin to know the answers to these fundamental questions about the world around them.
Teachers will be encouraged to use a whole range of strategies to engage and motivate learners to make the best possible progress. Outdoor learning and the use of outside providers will further enrich the learning experience increasing engagement and meaning
